Coast Guard Required:
Letter of Compliance
Each enrolled company will receive a formal Letter of Compliance for use during a Coast Guard review or audit of the member firm's random drug testing program. This document will list all Captains and crew enrolled in the random testing program.
Quality Random Testing and Notification Procedures
The Maritime Consortium uses a sophisticated computer program to make the random testing selections out of our pool. The computer systems used by Maritime are state of the art, which ensures objectivity and accuracy.
A Local Collection Site for Specimen Collection
The Consortium has nearly 5000 collection sites throughout the U.S. Your company will be given a site within thirty (30) miles of the company's main address.
A Company Drug Handbook Containing the Coast Guard Rules
Each enrolled company will receive a copy of the DOT/Coast Guard regulations (46 CFR part 16 and 49 CFR 40) which can be used as a reference source for the company. The regulations will appear as part of a Drug Handbook provided to each enrolled company.
Company Policy Statement
Each enrolled company will receive a written company policy statement on drug use. This statement should be signed by the owner of the firm and posted in a location where it is in full view to all company employees. The Consortium also provides a policy statement for all employees to sign.
Medical Review Officers and NIDA Certified Laboratories
The Maritime Consortium uses a staff of Medial Review Officers to interpret every drug test result. The laboratories used by Maritime are certified and inspected by the National Institute of Drug Abuse and SAMHSA for testing accuracy.
Employee Assistance Program Training Materials
Each enrolled company will receive training materials on drug abuse. Firms with three or more employees will also receive a sixty minute cd-rom for drug training. After their training, employees will sign a copy of the company drug abuse policy statement.
Additional Maritime Consortium Features.
Identification Cards
Each enrolled Captain or crewmember will be issued a laminated identification card. These cards are to be used as proof of the employee's/contractor's enrollment in the random testing program.
